What are some ancient theories about the earth?

I am looking for some mainstream ancient ideas about the earth, not ones that Pythagoreas or Aristotle came up with because their ideas affected only a select few. (Most continued to believe that the earth is flat) An example would be that the earth is flat, and held up by 3 elephants. (I've heard that one somewhere.) Anything and everything is appreciated!

   The Bible is very different since it talks about the circle of the earth (round) and that the earth is "suspended" - this when ancient cultures had their gods literally holding the earth up.
2. Science view.
   
   The earth is held up by a very large turtle; on the back of this turtle.
   
   
   
   Biblical view
   
   The earth was mad out of nothing in a fairly short period. God put it where it is and He hung it on nothing.
3. People used to think that Earth was flat and not round and when you sail you would go off the end.
