  1. Formula for gravity:

    G = ( m1 * m2 * g ) / ( r ^ 2 )

    m1 = 6 x 10 ^ 24 kg

    m2 = 7.3477 x 10 ^ 22 kg

    g = 6.67259 x 10 ^ -11 m^3 / ( s^2 * kg )

    r = 384,403 km = 3.84403 x 10 ^ 8 m

    Solve for G, G = 1.99 x 10 ^ 20 ( kg * m^2 ) / s^2 ( Newtons)

    Converting to pounds force:

    1 N = 0.224808943 pounds force

    4.48 x 10 ^ 19 pounds force
  2. BroncoJoe's method is basically correct, but it would be a lot more clear if he would use the standard notation. He should use G instead of g, and F where he uses G.

    so. . .

    F = G x m1 x m2 / r²
