What is the difference between a satelite and a dwarf planet besides what they orbit?
Is there any difference between a satelite such as the Luna (the moon) and a dwarf planet such as Sedna besides what they rotate.
If the Moon was not rotating the earth what would it be considered

- A planet orbits a sun.
A satelite orbits a planet.
They are basically the same thing, its just what they are orbiting that gives them their name.
- A natural satellite or moon is a celestial body that orbits a planet
A dwarf planet, as defined by the International Astronomical Union (IAU), is a celestial body orbiting the Sun that is massive enough to be rounded by its own gravity but which has not cleared its neighbouring region of planetesimals and is not a satellite
- A planet Orbits a Star While a Satelite orbits a planet. If the moon wouldn't orbit the Earth It would just be a heavenly body like comets etc
And lets face it we wouldn't be alive to consider it as this or that!
