What planets are most visible at this time of the year?
I'm taking an Astronomy class right now and next week were going to look at some stars and planets at night and I was wondering what planets are most visable right now? If it matters, I live in Michigan.

- Hi. Do a search on Stellarium . It's a really neat freeware program that will answer all your questions and show you what's up now, next week, whenever you like.
- if anything, only venus and mars are visible without any aid.
But, my brother always says, "you can always see uranus" since he always gets a kick out of saying that.
- The most visible planets are usually Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn--and Earth, of course. (I live in Michigan too.)
- for fall it would be mars with out the aid of a telescope.that's if your talking about planets in our solar system. The most notable planet in the sky would be what most people call the "north star" when its actually a planet.
- It is a poor time for viewing planets. Most of them are behind the Sun just now. Jupiter is the bright star in the southwest at sunset, but it quickly sets too, and by 10:00 there are no bright planets in the sky. Uranus Neptune and Pluto are well up in the sky most of the night, but a telescope is needed to see them. The source will tell you where they all are at any time or date.
