earth >? on earth you weigh 105 pounds and on the sun you weigh 2800 pounds explain to me how this can be
Would the gravity of Earth change if it were moved to different locations of the Universe? Some of the questions that I am curious of. 1. If everything in the Universe were to disappear, what would happen if a large mass such as Earth or the Sun were to pop back into existence? Would anything strange happen to gravity? 2. Would I weigh the same on Earth if Earth no matter what location it came to rest at in the Universe? 3. If Earth could travel at different speeds, could this change how much I would weigh standing on Earth?
How long the earth will remain a suitable place for humans to live? We know that global warming is destroying earth. The earth becomes more unfriendly by the day, and only few people try to reduce global warming, most of us don't even care about global warming. So eventually the earth will become an unfriendly planet. How long will the earth becomes an unlivable place for humans if there aren't any environmental actions done? What's the best action to counter it? I forgot this, but please also state the reasons of your answers.
How many Earth like planets are there in the universe with existence of air water and life? Earth has been the only planet since millions of years with the proof of life. All other planets are merely assumptions by astrologers that earth-like planets exist beyond our Milky way. Recently an earth like planet was discovered by astrologers which was supposed to have life, fire, water and Oxygen like gas.But that is all a foolish assumption.
The rocks on Earth are much younger than the earth itself. How does this support the theory of plate tectonics The rocks on Earth are much younger than the earth itself. How does this support the theory of plate tectonics?
How should we treat other human beings, animals, all life on earth, and the environment? How should we treat other human beings, animals, all life on earth, and the total environment? How should we treatment other human beings, animals, all life on earth, as well as the total environment of the earth? What is responsible treatment of other human beings, animals, all creatures of the earth, all life including plants, and the general environment of the earth? *How should we treat other human beings? *How should we treat animals? *How should we treat all life? *How should we treat the total environment of the earth? (Copy and Paste the above listing to help in answering this challenging question.) <<<<<<.....>>>>>> Especially with the advent of the machine age this question is more pressing. Is it ok to torture and/or kill other humans or animals? Is it ok to pollute the earth? Please explain for the benefit of all peoples and nations. This has been an issue throughout the history of mankind. What is responsible human behavior? MOTHER EARTH: Understanding the earth is just like our mother. Addressing all environmental concerns worldwide. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/motherearth I asked this question after contemplating man's irresponsible behavior at time throughout history. Are we as humans ready to act more responsibly?
How many earth years to travel the distance covered by a light year? Yes. I get it. Light year measures Distance. Let's say that another planet in some other galaxy is 10 light years away from the Earth. If we were to lauch a spacecraft to that planet, how many Earth years would it take to get there? I am not sure - but let's just say the average spacecraft speed.
How come a New earth moon is not on a possible disaster list? You know Luna (earths moon) controls the tides and helps us have 24 hour days right. Well what if a very Large asteroid say like 4 Vesta gets caught into earths orbit wouldn't that cause serious Issues on earth.
Why is Earth the only inhabitable planet of the solar system? What event/condition made Planet Earth the only inhabitable one? Is it because of its distance from the sun? Why do all the other planets in the solar system have totally different and uninhabitable atmosphere/ environment than that of Earth?
What would happen to Earth if 2000 tons of matter converted to pure energy 800 miles from its surface? What would happen to Earth, in detail, if a sphere of 100 yards in diameter with a mass of 2000 tons were to spontaneous turn to pure energy, as per e=mc^2, 800 miles from Earth's surface? Would the resultant super-high-energy blast wipe out all life on the planet? Would the atmosphere be entirely ionized and blown away? Would the oceans be boiled away quickly? Or would Earth simply be vaporized? Or something less drastic or in between those options? Detail is appreciated.
How come the Earth is going through a period of decreased volcanic activity and meteorite activity? How come the Earth is going through a period of decreased volcanic activity and meteorite activity? I am not saying that there is no volcanoes, just a decreased in occurence to what we have seen in the Earths past.
How old is Earth, and how long did it take for Earth to officially become a planet? Basically, what is the time period between the very beginning of Earth and the 21st century? Thanks.
How would a part of the earth ripping apart impact the rest of it? I was reading an article about an asteriod impacting the earth and destroy the dinosaurs and I was curious about the opposite scenario. What would happen if somehow part of the earth was ripped from the rest of it and sent hurling into space? They say the moon was made by spinning free from the earth early in the creation of the universe. I am just wondering what kind of effect such an act would have nowadays on the environment.
If a plane start from a point on earth to the just opposite point .How can it reach faster? If a plane flyies between two opposite points on earth , when it will reach faster. If it flies anti earth rotation or towards towards the earth rotaion or its doesn't matter which side its flying. What i mean to know is will earths rotaion effects the relativity of a plane when it fly.
Where to find map of the Earth during ice age & when the ice caps melt in the future? Where can I find a picture of the Earth during the previous ice age(s) and the prediction of what Earth will look like if the ice caps melt during global warming or a heating phase of the Earth? I've always wanted to see! It's very interesting.

Earth’s magnetosphere is spread out farther on the side of Earth not facing the sun. C. The magnetic field on the side facing the sun is warmer. D. Solar wind causes magnetic declination.
How the atomospheric air around the earth does not escape into space ? Earth is covered by a layer of atomspheric air. It is the life line of all living beings on the earth. What force binds the atomospheric air with the earth ?
How much longer is the earth expected to be able to support life? At some point in the very distant future the earth will no longer be able to support human, plant and animal life. When will this be and what is expected to happen to the earth once it can no longer support life?
How is time calculated for astronauts traveling around the earth faster than the earth rotates? One revolution of the earth constitutes a 24 hour day. So, if the astronauts travel around the earth faster than the earth revolves in a 24 hour period, how is their time arrived at? And, just for fun, do they age faster?
How many people will survive after the earth passes the galactic equator? The Mayan calendar ends on Dec. 21, 2012. They predicted that when the calendar ends the earth will change. This date coincides with the astronimical event when the earth will be in line with the sun and the center of our galaxy (the milky way). At the center of our galaxy is a black hole, the most destructive and strongest force known to scientists. When Earth aligns with these to strong cosmic entities what will happen to people and the planet?
Why does Earth have the strongest magnetic field among the terrestrial worlds? Why does Earth have the strongest magnetic field among the terrestrial worlds? It is the only one that has a metallic core. It rotates much faster than any other terrestrial world. It is the only one that has both a partially molten metallic core and reasonably rapid rotation. It is the most volcanically active world. It is by far the largest terrestrial world.
How did the oceans get on the earth? How did the earth get it's oceans? How come there got to be so much water here. I know of one theory is that the earth got hit with millions of snow packed coments, creating the ocenas. What other theorys are there to try explain how water come to existance on earth?
How to calculate radial acceleration of the earth around the sun? How do you calculate the radial acceleration of the earth in its orbit around the sun? Use f=ma to find radial forcethat holds earth in orbit. Check by calculating gravitational attraction between earth and sun using newton's law of gravity. can anyone help me answering this question please? thanks!
Can Middle Earth, or something akin to it, actually exist in another dimension or parrallel universe? IF there is an infinite number of parrallel universes or dimensions, can a Middle Earth actually exist? Would the laws of physics be different in those universes or dimensions, allowing "magic" to exist? Thanks Andy, Then every book, every story, every dream any person has ever had is not only possible, it's REALITY somewhere. And that includes the Bible, so somewhere, maybe here, every word in the Bible is true then.
Does diatomaceous earth work on insects in the home? I have some tiny white unidentified insects in my home- they are not bedbugs (much too small, wrong shape) not fleas (can't jump, wrong shape) and not lice (they are the wrong shape and can walk over smooth surfaces). I've searched for household pest images and can't find anything that looks like them at all. I have tried using pyrethrin-based insecticides on them but they seem to be resistant to them so i have ordered some diatomaceous earth. Does this "mechanical insecticide" really work, and how should I use it? ...and can anyone tell me from experience? It's an interesting and innovative idea and preferable to spraying my house with poison but is DE genuinely effective?
What type of creature could survive on earth if earth did not have an atmosphere? I need to sketch what type of creature could live on earth if it did not have an atmosphere for science class. I was thinking that it would have thick skin, and live under ground where it would not be as affected by the extreme weather as on the surface - What else would it be like, can anyone please suggest?
What are some ancient theories about the earth? I am looking for some mainstream ancient ideas about the earth, not ones that Pythagoreas or Aristotle came up with because their ideas affected only a select few. (Most continued to believe that the earth is flat) An example would be that the earth is flat, and held up by 3 elephants. (I've heard that one somewhere.) Anything and everything is appreciated! Thank you!
How is electricity supplied to earth and replenished? I read probably from my book about thunderstorms that they are partially or completely responsible for replenishing the electricity to earth which is lost due to the earth's charge loss. I would like to understand the entire cycle first at a basic level. How is this planet supplied with electricity and what are some/all of the replenishing processes?
How fast and in what direction with respect to the Earth’s orbit should the rocket be fired? The orbital velocity of the Earth about the sun is 30 km/s. If the Earth were suddenly stopped in its tracks, it would simply fall radially into the Sun. Devise a plan whereby a rocket loaded with radioactive wastes could be fired into the Sun for permanent disposal. How fast and in what direction with respect to the Earth’s orbit should the rocket be fired?

What is the impact of the earth shifting its axis 1 degree? I heard that the earth shift that caused the tsunami shifted the earth 1 degree on its axis. I have not been able to verify this. Would we feel that kind of a shift? If not, how much shift would be noticeable?
What is the radial acceleration of the earth toward the sun? The radius of the earth's orbit around the sun (assumed to be circular) is 1.50 x 10^8 km, and the earth travels around this orbit in 365 days.
What is the maximum depth of the earth that life can survive? In spirit of Jules Vernes movie, how deep in the earth can life survive? Ive heard of 'dark life', animals that can survive by living from volcanic activity but surely life( especially micro organisms) can survive several miles from the earth surface.
What is the gravitational pull at the centre of the earth? If it was possible to be at the precise centre of the earth, would you still be subject to a gravitational pull? Presumably you would not be weightless at that point? If there is a pull, what is it exerted by i.e. which part of the earth? So are you at that point being pulled outwards away from the centre of the earth? How do gravitons work? Please ignore the problems of temperature and pressure at the core, I know in reality it's not survivable. Also I'm talking only about the earth's gravitational pull, not that of the sun or other bodies.
What was the potential energy of the earth-spacecraft system? Ten days after it was launched toward Mars in December 1998, the Mars Climate Orbiter spacecraft (mass 629 kg) was 2.87 x 10^6 km from the earth and traveling at 1.20 x 10^4 km/h relative to the earth.

What scripture supports that Christ will reign on earth during the millennium and that there will be peace? What scripture specifically supports that the saints will rule with Christ on earth? Seems to me that God will devour the earth with fire while we are in heaven with him during the millennium. After that, the resurrection of the dead will take place and they will be judged and cast into the lake of fire with Satan. What scripture supports peacful reign on the earth itself?

What are your favorite places to view on google earth? What are your favorite places to view on google earth? I like to look at ships at naval bases, and I've seen Niagra Falls and the Himalya Mnts. If you have exact addresses to anything that is even fairly unknown that is cool. I just want some neat stuff to check out. If you are into astronomy, as I am, you can also mention something in the "sky" portion of Google Earth.
If the ocean and atmosphere of Earth were removed would the Earth be warmed or cooler? It seems like a dumb question but the there some effect that is caused by the atmosphere and ocean that alters the temperature of Earth. The moon has lower and higher temps but it doesn't spin like Earth does. So can the average temp of the moon be compared to the average temp of Earth if an allowance is made for the effect of ocean and atmosphere? How would the warmer day/colder night would average out relative to current conditions on Earth?
How much solar energy reaches the earth in a 24 hour period? I would like to figure out how much energy from the sun reaches the earth's surface in a 24 hour period. I'm only looking for a an approximation. This is not for a school project. This is a personal curiosity.
What is the greatest country on earth and why? Okay on the colbert report yesterday colbert showed clips of sean hannity saying america was the "greatest best country on the face of the earth" i have to say i agree but what do u think?
If our earth ever stop spinning around the sun will one side of the earth remain all sunny and burn in years? And even so what will become of the years if the earth suddenly stops spinning around the sun and the moon stop spinning around the earth and if the earth suddenly stops spinning what will happen to the earth? I got this thought and questions from watching a documentary and a movie. The movie name is called 2012 doomsday and i have to say some parts of the movie do make sense. I just forgot just like a Mayan Calendar not really sure if that the name of the people who created the calender to predict the earth demise.
