Planet Questions

Planet....? Are there any new updates on the planet that scientists suppose carries life?
what is the lifespan of a planet if it were to die of natural causes? bare with my curiousity but the earth will die because of us, something slamming into it, or the sun dying itself. but for arguement sake lets say the sun never dies and we dont kill our own planet, nothing hits earth, no galaxies collide with ours or any other ways to kill off the planet. does a planet life forever? or would it somehow die on its own of its own natural causes? our planet can only life as long as our sun lives, but if the sun were to remain the same forever what would be the fate of earths lifespan?
What is the planet seen in the special legendary scene at the end of halo 3? What is the planet you see in the special scene at the end of the halo 3 when u finish on legendary? Some people say its marathon, the planet in one of Bungie's early games. Others say its Onyx where the last Spartans are. Does anyone know what it actually is?
How many people are off the planet at one time? What do you reckon... the average number of people/ % pf people who are flying somewhere across the planet at any given instant? I just wanna know what kinda numbers of our population are not on the planet that they live upon at any give time... How many people are not on this planet every second of the day?
What planet is the most shinning star on the sky? At night when the stars appear you can see that one of them is really shinning ..it's the biggest and the most shinning star .. so what planet is it?
What are the different Minerals from Planet to planet? I'm just wondering what Minerals dominate each planet of the solar system. Does earth have every Mineral and the others have some but not all and what mineral my we not have that are on other Planet and moons?
What happens during the apparent retrograde motion of a planet? a. The planet appears to move eastward with respect to the stars over a period of many nights. b. The planet moves backward through the sky. c. The planet moves backward in its orbit around the Sun. d. The planet moves through constellations that are not part of the zodiac. e. The planet rises in the west and sets in the east.
What direction is a planet when it is highest in the sky? An assignment question that I don't really understand, any help would be great. During the night, a planet rises above the horizon, travels across the sky and sets below the horizon. In which direction would you have to look to observe the planet when it is highest in the sky? Would an observer in the southern hemisphere look in the same direction?
What is the largest planet in the milky way and what is the smallest? which planet is the largest and which planet is the smallest (in the milky way) yes i meant our solar system! i was studying late last night and was tired so i wasn't thinking straight...thanks for all the answers though.
What can be determined about an extrasolar planet observed from Earth? Just curious what can specifics be determined about extrasolar planet from Earth? Specifics I am thinking might concern is a planet's rotation, size, climate and habitability, etc. Also, how far would a high-end, home-telescope reach in terms of observing a planet? How many light years, etc.? Please only reply if you know! I'm not looking for guesses ;-) Thanks much!
What planet can currently be seen in the southern hemisphere? We just spent some time in French Polynesia and saw this really bright object in the sky. It was so much brighter/larger than the other stars, and it shined instead of twinkled, which makes me think it was a planet. Was it a star or a planet? If planet, which one?
How much mass must a planet have to hold an atmosphere and a magnetosphere to hold it? Mars has .111 the mass and .377 the gravity of Earth. What is the Goldilocks zone for a planet? How close in size and mass to Earth does another planet have to be that we could colonize it?
How can our planet be the only one to have living creatures? Is there really a god? And if there is, did "He" put life on other planets too? I mean, how, just how, of all the planets in all the galaxies is this the only planet to have life? Does anyone else agree that there HAS to be other planets with other lifeforms?
What happen to a planet entirely cover by water? As we can see in our planet, there is a lot of water on it surface with their variety of deepness. I just Wandering if there is a planet entirely cover by water, what happen to the climate if the distance to the sun, the size of the planet, the atmosphere just look like earth and the deepness of the water are almost the same in all the area . In our planet the climate are changing fast because the variety of land high and water deepness that created many different temperature and pressure? How about if some of human move there and create a civilization. What kind of cultural live would they created, what kind of transportation, job, food, or other thing that we do in Erath? I’m Sorry if I ask to many question.
Why is Earth the only inhabitable planet of the solar system? What event/condition made Planet Earth the only inhabitable one? Is it because of its distance from the sun? Why do all the other planets in the solar system have totally different and uninhabitable atmosphere/ environment than that of Earth?
What factors effect the gravity of a planet? Also, say for instance there was a terrestrial planet that had a diameter 8 times that of Earth. Would it be possible for a planet of that size to have a gravity similar to Earth’s? I know that the planet's core has something to do with the world's gravity and after doing some research, I found estimations of the size of Earth's inner and outer core. [http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/08/0825_050825_earthcore.html] From the estimations I figured that the inner core’s radius is about 19% of the Earth’s total radius and the radius of the outer core is about 55% of the Earth’s total radius, I think my math could be off, it’s not my best subject. I’m not sure how to word this, but if these percentages were used in determining the core size of the imaginary planet with the diameter 8x the size of Earth’s would that mean that the gravity could be similar on both worlds?
What happens to the planet when the hole in ozone layer is as big as the earth? Will there be any form of survival for humans and living things on the planet earth? Can gaseous emissions be stopped?
What planet am I seeing in the sky at night? I'm sure it's a planet, 'cause it wasn't there a month ago. It's insanely bright-- the brightest thing in the sky, sans the moon. It's in the southern sky late at night. I've also seen it at twilight. I live in the north eastern United States. What planet is it? It's been bugging me for several weeks now.
What should we do to free our planet from terrorism? Human society, from origin until now, has always been at war within and between groups and has led to two World Wars. Presently, terrorism and low intensity warfare are affecting many parts if the world. As the current global population of 6 billion increases to 8 billion by 2025, national and international conflicts will continue to be a source of concern for humanity. When evil minds combine, good minds have to work together and combat. In this context, what are the out-of-the-box solutions to free the planet earth from terrorism? Your answers when processed and implemented can lead to a peaceful, happy and safe planet earth.
Religiously Speaking: How old is planet earth according to your religion and how can you tell? It seems that one of the most fundamental opinion differences between believers and non believers are scientific. It also seems that in general atheists believe the world to be much older than christians. Can you tell me, from your religious standpoint (or lack thereof) how old you believe the planet is, and what proof do you use to apply this knowledge?
How astronomer could detect a large planet orbiting a star without actually seeing the planet? Can you think of any way an astronomer could detect a large planet orbiting a star without actually seeing the planet? (Hint: How would the star move as the planet orbits it?)
What is the connection between the planet Mercury and the element Mercury? I know that the element Mercury is definitely not comprised of the planet Mercury, so what is the connection? I am thinking it has something to do with the zodiac, but I really am not sure.
How long will it take an object to reach a planet? If an object starts at rest and begins accelerating towards a large object such as a planet (assume the planet is also at rest) how can one determine the amount of time it will take for the object to reach the planet considering that the object's acceleration is constantly changing (a=(Gm)/r^2). Using Earth as a hypothetical example, can anyone solve the amount of time it will take for an object 100,000 km from the earth to reach the planet. G (gravitational constant)=6.67x10^(-11) m (earth's mass)=5.9742x10^24 r=distance between center of both objects (radius of earth+distance of object from earth)= 6378100m+100000000m= 106378100m Can the object's position in relation to the planet be expressed as a function of time? If not, then is it possible to use a differential equation to find the time required for the object to reach the planet?
Can a lifeform from a planet with high gravity live on a planet with lower gravity? If a lifeform was from another planet that had gravity 5x (lets say) that of Earth. Would it be able to survive if it came here? I am aware that humans have suits designed to withstand Gs for use in airplanes and spaceships, but my question is if the speicies from the higher gravity planet could survive for long periods of time in an environment with much lower gravity. If no, would there be a technology that the lifeform could use to survive?
What is your contribution to the planet in enriching the greenery? The endangered planet desperately requires selfless helping hands to save it from the man made deforestation. It is now the duty of the responsible citigen of this world to rose to the occassion.
What happens when all the planet is sold? Where does everybody go then and who gave us the right to sell off the planet? What is the end game? I thought we were supposed to be only guardians of the planet to live our lives as naturally as animals do. Left alone the planet would not have been stripped of all its resources!! We wouldn't need a water board then or supermarkets. Lucky man, I think you have the wrong end of the stick. I am concerned about the planet not my lifespan. Perhaps I worded this slightly wrong as all the answers at present do not seem to be answering the question as expected. I probably mean destroying the planet rather than selling it all off. If those who purchase are more conscious of the environment then so be it.
is planet hollywood a good choice for a vegas trip? my friends and i are planning a vegas trip and we were thinking about planet hollywood for a place to stay. any thoughts?
What planet is in front of the moon to make it a half or quarter moon? Is there more than one planet, or is it always the same one? How come Jupiter is a gas planet but it have so many moons? If jupiter is a gas planet then why it have moons for, there nothing living on jupiter but maybe we can live on europa. It seems that Europa should be the planet and Jupiter be the moon. We don't need these other planets bc they don't have no life to it.
What effect to nappies have on our planet ? answer the other ones below please? What are nappies actually doing to the planet? What material are nappies made of? Why does it take so long to disintegrate? Which are safer disposable or re-usable for the environment? How long approximately does it take for a Nappy to disintegrate?
How many people are flying over the planet for any given moment? I always wondered how many people are not on the planet- well on it's surface at least.
What would be the effects of multiple moons on a planet? You know how in some work of fiction, especially in fantasy and science fiction, we see worlds that have more then one moon? Then, of course, there are other, actual planets in our own universe that have multiple moons. Well, scientifically speaking, what would the effects of multiple moons be on a planet? Would the tides just rise higher, or whatever? Would night just be brighter? Or would there be other effects? I'm not necessarily talking about the Earth itself as we know it, by the way. I mean some fictional, or far-flung plant in our own universe, that naturally has more then one moon.
What will Global Warming do to our planet in the long run? What's going to happen as the temperatures keep rising and the ice keeps melting? What's going to be the outcome and the aftermath? Maybe by then, should our race survive, we would have created the technology to take the people of that period to another planet suitable enough to support life. Maybe Mars could be it as a result of preparation and many past missions to make it a suitable planet for earthlings with a base colony that contains artificial gravity, air, and food. But I still want to know what would happen to Earth. Some say another Ice Age but how would that occur with the planet being at its warmest?
What is the only living creature on the planet that lives only to reproduce and eat? Just a fun stupid trivia question 10 points to the first person that can tell me what is the only creature on the planet that live only for eating and reproducing. When I say this I mean that they do nothing else a dog plays and human does many things even fish can play at times. This creature does nothing else. There have been studies proving it.
What is the normal operating temperature of the planet supposed to be? Without unbiased scientific evidence I'm trying really hard to give the global warming (man is killing the planet) fanatics the benefit of the doubt). So, can someone tell me what temperature God intended the earth to maintain? Take all the time you need, i'll wait...
Does anyone have the recipe for the Planet Burger, a vegetarian burger served at the Good Earth restaurant? The Good Earth used to be a popular restaurant chain. You can still get Good Earth teas, but their delicious vegetarian Planet Burger is unavailable. Does anyone have the recipe? I can't find it anywhere! It is NOT the Small Planet Burger from 'Recipes For A Small Planet'. Thanks for any help!
Has anyone stayed at Planet Hollywood any recommendations for night clubs around area? I'm planning to go to Las Vegas in March and already booked my hotel for Planet Hollywood. It's my first time in vegas and I am wondering how this hotel is. I am also wondering of any good nightclubs around the area. Thanks
How did they determine Zena is a planet? Why is it not just a piece of the meteor belt? I think it is not round, and it does not orbit like the other planets but has a huge elliptical orbit that is in a different plane than the other planets. What makes it a planet, not a meteor in orbit?
How would habitability be different if alien planet orbits around red dwarf rather than yellow star? It's possible that plants and animals can develop on planets (like Earth) that orbit around yellow star like the sun, and at just the right temperature. Would it be possible for plant life and fish creatures to develop on a planet that orbits around red dwarf?
What can be done to help save our planet and society? With global warming, high energy prices and economic crisis, as an individual what can each person do to help save the planet and America as we know it? All low budget tips and suggestions are welcomed.
Is the Planet Earth destined to be a planet of just water? I think that the Planet Earth is eventually going to be a planet of just water, I think that will be the end of its evolutionary cycle. Anyone care to comment?
What are the arguments for and against Pluto being considered a planet? Should Pluto be counted as a planet? If so, are there other objects in our solar system which also deserve planet status?
What is the equation to calculate solar flux at a certain planet? What is the equation to calculate solar flux at a certain planet?
What makes humans believe we need to cool the planet? What if this is a normal cycle? Al Gore and others are making huge dollars trying to cool the planet. What if we aren't responsible or what if the earth just needs to go through a warming period to regenerate itself? We are an arrogant species are we not?
Do you think scientists will discover another planet that is liveable to humans? Do you think scientists will discover another planet in are lifetime that is liveable to humans, an earth-like planet that looks exactly like earth? And would you move there?
How many pages should we right a story for the planet Earth? It is the planet Earth and I need more details to my story because it is my homework.Thank You Yahoo.
If a planet is growing by accretion does the force of gravity at its surface decrease or increase? Its density remains roughly constant. Specifically, what would happen to the surface gravity as the radius of the planet doubled? What is the reason for this?
What is the link between the diameter of a planet and the number of its moons? What is the link between the diameter of a planet and the number of its moons? I need to write a paragraph explaining and describing this. Can anyone tell me the link?
What do we conclude if a planet has few impact craters of any size? What do we conclude if a planet has few impact craters of any size? The planet was never bombarded by asteroids or comets. Its atmosphere stopped impactors of all sizes. Other geological processes have wiped out craters.
What is is the most important environmental issue facing the planet today? What are you most afraid will happen to the planet that cannot be reversed? Do you have a healthy environmental conscience? Do you have faith that mankind will do the right thing and learn to treat the world better before it's too late? Will Mother Nature win?
What is the difference between a satelite and a dwarf planet besides what they orbit? Is there any difference between a satelite such as the Luna (the moon) and a dwarf planet such as Sedna besides what they rotate. If the Moon was not rotating the earth what would it be considered
What is a food item that has to do with the planet Neptune? I am doing a project on the planet Neptune and I need to find a food item to serve that has to do with Neptune. Any ideas? EX: for Saturun you could do ring pops.
If a stray planet entered our solar system, is there anything we could do to get rid of it? Say a stray planet entered our solarsystem and was heading for earth, about the size of mars, is there anything we could do or are we just doomed to watch it destroy us. Also, on a tangent, would would happen if a white dwarf entered our solar system heading for our sun, what would happen? Also what would happen when the white dwarf passed different planets?
What is the scientific name for the newly discovered tenth planet? This scientific name is just temporary until astronomers find out more about this planet's features.
How does the distance from a light source effect amount of energy a planet receives? If a planet were twice as far from the sun as earth is, would it recieve half as much from sun as earth does? What effect would it have on the planets temperature?
What is a sustainble population for planet Earth? The Planet is a finite resource. As populations increase the planet is damaged until it reaches a point from which it can no longer recover.
What is the mass of the planet? How does the new planet’s mass compare to Earth’s mass? An artificial satellite is placed into orbit around a newly discovered planet beyond Pluto. It is found that the radius of the near-circular orbit is 1.2 × 104 km and that the orbital period is 37 days.
