Solar System Questions
Solar System? Does our solar system (Galaxy) move through the universe like a cloud moves through the sky or are we completely stationary?
How much solar system setup for running power a home might cost ? How much solar system setup for running power a home might costs ? I am from India and their are too many power cuts , so i have decided to setup solar system instead of buy a generetor or invertor , and can any one tell me which company in India supply Solar system setup for home
Does our knowledge of the solar system give us a better chance of surviving such a catastrophe? Geologists generally agree that the Earth has been hit many times by other objects in the solar system, and most predict that another object will again strike the Earth in the near future. Does our knowledge of the solar system give us a better chance of surviving such a catastrophe? How? What other benefit is it to know the solar system better? How can the position of sun, moon, and planets help us to know our position on Earth? How does knowing the conditions on other planets help us to appreciate Earth? Could there be life on other bodies in our solar system? Why or why not?
How did the solar system get created? I know the scientific understandings of how the solar system was started, by why, and who/what created the solar system? Explain yourself. If you think it was god, who is god? Explain yourself.
How can I install a solar heating system on my new pool? We just signed with the pool company today and they will begin the work to install an inground pool in our yard. I've asked that they put in the necessary plumbing so that we can add the solar system later (paying approx $400 for 3 pipes?). How difficult is it to do this? Is this something relatively simple/straightforward? I should add that we have a computer control panel, so according to our pool man, we should be able to hook up to it and have it controlled remotely. So my question is, once it's stubbed for solar, what are the next steps and best cost approach? Any guidance is greatly appreciated!
How wide is the solar system in light years? Assuming the distance from heliopause to heliopause, what is the width of our solar system at its widest, in light years? Also, what is that same distance in astronomical units?
WHY DOES A SOLAR POWER SYSTEM COST SO MUCh? I am shopping for a solar system and am tired of reading through the b/s. Everyone has the same spin of saving energy to get credit on the utility bill but the systems are 30-50k! with the rebates already applied. I smell huge mark up here. Does anyone have any tips on shopping for a solar system for a home?
What is the plane of our solar system relative to the plane of our galaxy? I'm curious as to whether or not it presents problems to astronomers who are trying to get data from other galaxies through the plane of the Milky Way. Even if our solar system was at a 90° angle to the Milky way, is it even significant enough to get different views of the universe at different times of the year? Also, how many gazillions of years does it take our solar system to complete an orbit in our galaxy?
Where did the gravitational force in the Solar system originate from? Where did the gravitational force in the Solar system originate from? What is our galaxy revolving around? Please explain in depth because I know the basics My bad, typo What is our Galaxy ROTATING around. If our galaxy is rotating around several massive black holes, 1. The whole galaxy would eventually get sucked into one of these "massive black holes". 2. If Our galaxy was rotating around a black hole, artists would depict the center of our galaxy with a black spot, not a massive ball of light.
What are the top three easiest bodies in the solar system to terra-form? What are the top three bodies (first to third) in our solar system that would be the easiest to turn from uninhabitable to habitable. Take all the planets, moons and other bodies in our solar system into consideration. And by habitable, I mean for a person to walk out side, at least some vegetation and animal to be free outside. And go into some detail, if you want, on how the terra-forming would be done with today’s technology and resources.
What would happen to our solar system if our galaxy collided with the Andromeda galaxy? Yeah, I know this event is supposed to happen in roughly 10 billion years and that our sun will have burnt out some 6 billion years prior to that. However, for the sake of argument, lets say that our solar system, sun and even human civilization were intact when this event were to happen. What would happen to our solar system, or indeed our planet? Would gravitational forces pull our solar system apart? Would our planet be captured by another sun, or our solar system grab additional planets? Would there be any collisions with other planets and or stars? By all means, please feel free to engage in heavy physics if you feel the need.
Is ours the only planet in the solar system that is getting warmer? I read in a magazine that other planets in the solar system are also warming up, has anyone else heard of this. If so what would cause this to happen as there are no humans anywhere else to cause pollution. one point the article did mention was the shrinking of the polar ice caps on mars, just like earth
How much Uranium is there in our solar system? Also, I find it hard to believe our entire solar system was created by a red dwarf, I know carbon can only be produced at lower temperatures but could a red dwarf really become a yellow star and produce the gas giants in our own solar system?
Why do all planets in our solar system go around the sun in the same way? Looking at a model of our solar system, and I'm using the term 'horizontal' just so it's easier for me to comprehend, but pretty much everything goes around the sun horizontally. Someone told me this is because that's the way the sun is turning and all planets have to follow that. Is this true? And using this same model as a visual image and the three dimensions of space, could it ever be possible for a planet to orbit vertically or even the opposite direction of the other planets in a system? Thoughts?
How is the plane of our solar system oriented compared to the plane of our galaxy? In other words, does the diameter of our solar system lie parallel to the diameter of the Milky Way galaxy, like two dinner plates lying on a table? Or, are we closer to perpindicular, as if one of the dinner plates were standing on end? ANOTHER THOUGHT -- I just realized that we should be able to make an educated guess. The elliptic is path planets make across our sky. Since all planets are (approximately) in the same plane, the elliptic should represent the plane of our solar system viewed from earth. Likewise, the Milky Way should represent the plane of our galaxy viewed from Earth, with its center towards Saggitarius. Maybe we could estimate it by the angle between the elliptic and the Milky Way.
Where in the solar system is the astronaut? An astronaut with spacesuit has a mass of 110 kg. Climbing up a hill 8 m high in 7.2 s requires the astronaut to expend a power of 200 W. Where in the solar system is the astronaut?
How many planets are now in the solar system and what are thier names? Yeah yeah, we've all heard scince 3rd grade that the 9 planets in our solar system are mercury, venus, earth, mars, jupiter, saturn, neptune, uranus, and pluto. But now they've removed pluto, and added planets in between mars and jupiter, and after uranus, and I'm very confused. I do know that there COULD be as many as 53 planets, but only 12 or so have been identifyed and named. How many are there exactly and what are thier names?
Solar system? Scientist are saying that our solar system does not go straight out, but 'bends'. Wouldn't that mean, that at some point it will make almost a full circle back to the beginning?
what is the cost of a solar system sufficient to run my meter backwards? I am looking for the cost of an alternative solar power system which will allow my home to run independent of the power grid. What is the approximate ROI? Not looking to remove myself from the grid completely, but to be able to generate enough to have a total billing from the power company close to $0 (not monthly, but over the course of a year)
What is the most interesting fact that you know about the solar system? Can you name the most interesting fact ever about the solar system? They can be anything that can be easily identified as interesting or funny? Ha. Nice ideas so far but bare in mind I am 13 YEARS old not 13 MONTHS. I was actually thinking along the lines of something to do about the history etc. or something interesting about the solar system.
Do you know much about the Solar System? Can you tell me, have all the planets in our solar system moved into a straight line? I have thought of this and was really curious. If they have done this before, when?, and if not, why won't it happen? You guys are wonderful!!!! Thank you so much for your help and honesty.
Why is Mercury the hottest and coldest planet in the solar system? I've read that Mercury is actually the hottest and coldest planet in the solar system since it always has the same face to the sun. I occured to me, however, that with Mercury being as small as it is and composed largely of iron, wouldn't the radiant heat from the sun facing side warm the surface sufficiently so that it would be at least warmer than say Neptune which is much further from the sun?
Why do we believe that the Sun is the center of the Solar System when Geocentric Models were so accurate? When the consensus of the scientist needed to show how a Geocentric solar system worked, then developed actual models of a geocentric solar system. These models worked. They accurately explained observations like retrograde motion of the planets. The models worked so well, they were used as proof that the Earth was in fact the center of the universe. After all, who could argue against the facts when they could see the model with their own eyes? So why don't we accept Geocentric Universe? The models were very accurate! Shouldn't we just accept the models?
